Infant Stethoscope Use –

Neonatal or Infant Stethoscope Chestpiece

3M” Littmann” Classic Il Infant or Pediatric stethoscopes with traditional combinatiochest piecees, you select either the diaphragm or open bell side by holding the chestpiece stem in one hand and rotating the chestpiece with the other hand until a click is felt.

Low frequencies: Use light contact on the bell side to hear low frequency sounds.

High frequencies: Turn the chest piece over, index to the opposite side, and use firm pressure to hear high-frequency sounds.

Infant or Neonatal Stethoscope Headset Adjustment 

Littmann stethoscope is designed to provide a comfortable, acoustically sealed ear fit. Notice that the tubes are set to accommodate the typical anatomy of the ear canal. The ear tips should point in a forward direction as you insert them into your ear canals.

To reduce spring tension in the headset, hold each tube at the bend near the ear tip and gradually pull it apart until fully extended.

To increase spring tension, grasp the headset with one hand where the tubes enter the plastic tubing and squeeze until the plastic tubing on one ear tubtouchesch the other Repeat as necessary.

For maximum acoustic performance, and comfortable patented 3M Littmann” Snap Tight Soft-Sealing Eartips are provided with your stethoscope. Littmann Stethoscope utilizes a unique design for attaching the ear tip to the tube. The ear tips are pushed onto the end of the ear tube and snapped firmly into place. To remove, pull firmly on the ear tip.
